Career
After finishing his general surgery residency at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, he trained at one of the first advanced laparoscopic fellowships in the world, in Leige, Belgium, under Dr. Bernard Dallemagne. With this training he established one of the first minimally invasive surgery programs in the western United States, being able to perform complex abdominal surgeries with tiny 1/4" incisions.
Dr. Patching started the first private practice bariatric center in Sacramento in 1999, and was the first bariatric center in the United States to be certified by the American Society for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery in the same year.
Dr. Patching is a board certified surgeon, and has been in private practice in Sacramento since 1986. He is on medical staff at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento & served as Chief of Surgery from 2005-2006.
